Ann-Eve Pedersen, President of the Arizona Education Network, discusses the proposed initiative to fund education and other programs. In 1961 mixed-race groups of young, mostly African-American youths embarked on what was termed the Freedom Rides. Their goal was to non-violently, yet directly challenge the racist _separate but equal_ public accommodation laws. Tucsonan Jim Zwerg rode on the buses.
