LaToya Ruby Frazier says her work is about finding a balance between the poetics and the politics of documentary photography. Her work is gripping and highly personal, often involving family members, and focusing on the old steel town of Braddock, PA where she grew up. Just 30, Frazier was chosen for the 2012 Whitney Biennial, where her work is attracting wide attention. She teaches at Rutgers.
