A new report released this week suggests that more children in the U.S. have autism than previously thought. The data, collected in 2018 by researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that one in 44 8-year-olds had been diagnosed with autism. In New Jersey, the rate was even higher, with one in 35 8-year-olds having autism, among the highest rates in the nation.
